Michelin Guide-listed:

Turns out the real headline wasn’t on the menu

An inside look at Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge inside the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver, BC

The Location: Nestled inside the sumptuous and venerable Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is the Michelin-listed Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge.

After being warmly greeted by a bellman in formal livery, you enter the hotel lobby filled with velvet sofas, floral prints, and a working fireplace.  Good design knows you don't just walk in, You Arrive.

Enter Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge:  Vermilion velvet, luxury linens, and a room that knows exactly how good it looks.

The Restaurant: The food?  Flavourful, yet forgettable.  The service?  Worth writing home about.  Somehow it all still works – it's like eating breakfast in your granny's fancy living room.

The Hotel: Every corridor, every fixture, every reflection considered. This is what happens when a design firm gets involved -  every detail is intentional.

Most hotels leave a mint. This one leaves a small piece of art.  These are the kind of details that guests remember and make this hotel a standout destination.

The Verdict: Skip the trip to Bacchus, book the trip to the hotel.  The guestrooms have been recently renovated and while they lean towards a more traditional design, they are tastefully done and feel elegant, yet understated.  The true draw to this boutique property is the staff, all of whom are not only very friendly, but are highly competent with a true attention to detail, which every designer appreciates.

Good to know: Day visit - breakfast, guestroom walkthrough, and design tour. Booked and paid independently.
